Day After October 9, 2016

Bright sun and blue skies

Horses frisky after storm

And then there is hay.

Art Prescription:  The horses were a little frisky this morning during feeding. As if to say, “yesterday was rainy,” and now we want our routine. Don’t we all like our routine? Feelings of safety and security? Full belly? Grateful…

Shelter From Storm October 7, 2016

Keep your loved ones close

Seek shelter from hurricane

Prayers for safety.

Art Prescription:  As hurricane Matthew continues a destructive path, my heart goes out to all the loss of life in Haiti. I pray for the safety of everyone in the path of this storm. We are two hours from the North Carolina coast and watching with apprehension.

Downshifting October 6, 2016

Morning rush hour

Mad dash to make a living

Shackles of success?

Art Prescription:  I had to take my husband to pick his car up from being serviced this morning. We were picking it up to go buy and install the parts ourselves, since the dealers quote was ridiculous. Lucky for me I’m married to a guy who can do just about anything!

I did notice the blank stares of people driving off to where-ever. Working to live instead of living to work. It’s hard out there…

Hope some of these folks do notice the scenery…small moments of joy in an otherwise stressful life.

Seed Pods October 4, 2016

Life ebbs and life flows

Bursting with seed, pods open

A new season starts.

Art Prescription:  This time of year beautiful sculptural seed pods are everywhere. Reminds us all that if you plant a seed it will grow.

Dream Weaver October 3, 2016

A fall dream weaver

Work of spun art in hay room

What does your web catch?

Art Prescription:  So if your web catches ease with a focus on gratitude and all the good things in your life… what  do you weave? If your web catches stress and always looking for things to go wrong…what do you weave?

So like this spider who weaves her best web ever, can you expect good things to happen? Can you get away from the spider next door who says, “we won’t catch anything, it’s useless.”

Weave your web with joy and good things will come…

Ground Work October 1, 2016

As morning mist clears

We transition to present

Knowing we belong.

Art Prescription:  I went to a workshop today at Blue Skies of Mapleview facilitated by Gail Todter and hosted by Deborah Pearson Moyers. It was about working on the ground with horses.

It will take me a while to process all I learned. These horses have so much to teach us about time, space, perception, survival, community, and above all instinct.

What if we went about our everyday lives trusting our instinct was right and true and good? And what if we all knew that we just belonged…and that was just enough?

Barefoot Days September 30, 2016

Flip-flap of bare feet

Last day of September now

Trees full of black birds.

Art Prescription:  As the birds fly south for winter, children spend their final days running in bare-feet. Soon they will need a jacket and gloves. I love the changing of seasons. Like life everything ebbs and flows.
