A sun-lit meadow
Perfect for a grazing cow
Spring trees burst alive.
Art Prescription: These little cows are so cute. Hoping to capture them with watercolor.

New cows on the block
I stop road-side to admire
Big and round soft eyes.
Art Prescription: For those of you who have followed my blog, you will remember Lil’ Bull. Well these two new cows are an addition to the farm.
These are works in progress. Tomorrow I will decide what to do for a background.
Works In Progress – watercolor:

Blue heron saunters
A pair of hawks circle above
Barred owls begin their calls.
Art Prescription: At dusk the bog begins to wake up. Time to start looking down a bit, instead of just up at the trees. First snake. A small adorable fella.
Index card with finger painting, pen and ink:

A bank of yellow
Dainty Trout Lily curtsies
Wildflower prelude.
Art Prescription: We went to Sandy Creek Park to bird watch. The explosion of Trout Lily wildflowers along the bank of the water was breath-taking. This is one of the first ephemeral wildflowers to announce spring’s arrival.
Index card with pen and ink and colored pencil:

The music did come
Spring has sprung, the birds do sing
Nature’s symphony.

Remaining leaves dance
To the Ides of March strong wind
Azaleas bud.
Art Prescription: The leaves that tried to hang on are now being finally blown about by March wind, making room for buds galore. As these crispy leaves dance down the street, I notice much to write and paint about. My backyard Azaleas are full of buds.
Index card with pen and ink and colored pencil:

Homemade pesto bread
Using Nanny’s rolling pin
Flour, yeast, and love.
Art Prescription: If the wood in this rolling pin could talk. Aged patina…smooth…feels like love. Made a million “Nanny’s Rolls.”
Sketchbook

Sharp beak and talons
Silent flight, emerald woods
A night-time huntress.
Art Prescription: Owl

Life, forever young
Would have not growth nor seasons
Nor change, and wisdom.
Art Prescription: I wish our society was more in awe of our elders. People who have lived and learned and have much to share with us if we will listen. I’m afraid in our current media-driven life-style, there is little room for quiet wisdom…conversations that carry years of perspective.
3 x 3 acrylic

Passing through a place
Brief and momentary stay
Life…is just like this.
Art Prescription: Oh how we dwell on things…ruminate and review and try to solve. When really just like the wind…”this” is only passing through out lives.
