What brings life meaning?
Is it how you spend your time
Or relationships?
Art Prescription: I framed this and really like it!! My time and relationships are both my joy!!

Bucking and snorting
Ten horses wait for their grain
Morning at the farm.
Art Prescription: and hay!! They are so appreciative!
This is a work in progress of one of my horse buddies.

Cold wind spreads fall leaves
Some airborne twirl in the sky
And land on wet earth
Art Prescription: My studio is particularly cozy this time of year. Bright lights, heat, and joyful clutter.
I’m playing with some mini-collages on canvas with drawn or painted eggs and feathers.
Sam and I are headed to The Old Cotton Gin for an art show next weekend!

I’m working on a small painting of a horse for a holiday card.
Needs some tweaking, but ready to go to print!!

Trust, a solid thing
No holes in true honesty
Put my faith in you.
Art Prescription: Trust and faith are big issues of our times.
Art Journal:

Splendid rainy day
Fall trees glow under grey clouds
Air is crisp and clean
Art Prescription: I decided to add seed pods to my paint swatches. It felt like a seasonal thing to do.

Shades of blue and gray
Neutral tones, dark browns and blacks
Winter’s soft palette.
Art Prescription: I’ve got ideas for this, and for now just brush strokes!

When the air is cold
And the fall sun warms your back
And you are with friends.
Art Prescription: After a belly full of hay, one by one the horses go down in the warm sun.

What a beautiful day! Our retreat was amazing. Wonderful group of people who came out to stretch their minds and bodies.
Thank you Sam Sather my yoga partner!
Our intro to the day was to have participants fill in, “If I were growing in a winter garden, I would…”
Their spontaneous answers were poetic!
If I were growing in a winter garden, I would…
Be buried
Transparent
Underground
Asleep
A refuge
A beauty berry
Color
Under a row, covered
A vine up a tree
By a house with lots of people
Turning in compost
A red twig of Dogwood
Peace, serenity
A bulb hibernating
A welcome to birds and squirrels
By flowing water
A shelter.

Hi y’all,
I’m super excited to co-lead a Yoga and Art Journaling Retreat tomorrow at the North Carolina Botanical Garden! The garden is beautiful with fall color.
Today I set up the room with an abundance of art materials for inspiration. Magic will happen!
