I forgo my voice
Trying to sing like others
My throat trembles truth.
Art Prescription: Why does it always take so long to circle back around to our truths?
Feed the birds, funny!
My stealth-like acrobatics
Houdini rodent.
Art Prescription: Steamer of a day. While out watering my plants I watched the antics of my local squirrel friend. These “tree-rats” are clever, and anyone who has purchased a squirrel proof feeder knows they pretty much wasted their money. So, I just feed everyone.
Laundry flaps in wind
Mares graze, tall grass, buttercups
Afternoon at farm.
Art Prescription: I sit and watch…observe their ears, their eyes, their tales as they swish at flies. They know I’m there. One of the most joyful things about sketching is simply the art of observation. I notice the sights, sounds, and smells of my surroundings. I get still and take it all in.
Wild irises grow
On the edge of country pond
Baby ducks waddle.
Art Prescription: An evening walk around our neighborhood pond…relaxing. And I see a duck with 10 ducklings trailing behind her. I hope to get some sketches of this fowl family. For now, the purple wild irises hold my attention. Pen and ink in sketchbook.
Through long green grass fields
Into the woods, by cows, geese,
Trail ride perfection!
Art Prescription: Spring experienced on the back of a horse is bliss. Look down and see wildflowers at their feet. Watch their ears and eyes as they take it all in. You are on their back and they carry you with each step, mutual trust!
Small town atmosphere
Kids, dogs, Saturday shoppers
Work hard and play hard.
Art Prescription: I did an art show today in Hillsborough, NC. What a picture perfect day. Sunshine, breeze, and people enjoying being a part of their neighborhood. One couple bought a piece they are taking to England. A young woman bought several pieces for her new home in Efland, NC, and another who is engaged to be married, picked up 3 works for her anticipated new life in Kansas! Lovely to meet my customers and see my art find homes!
