Haiku September 8, 2013 Alone, but not Lonely

Glad the birds don’t leave

As summer’s heat fades, my friends

With wings stay around!

Art Prescription:  If you follow my blog, you know I’m having trouble letting summer go…the sun, the blooms, the abundance of flowers! I will adjust. I also love fall and the rainbow of color that explodes on trees! Does the season change invoke the explorer in you?

Beautiful Morning August 25,2013

I wish I could put

A morning like this in a

Box, save forever!

Art Prescription:  A perfect morning and day…the reason people move to NC. Cool to walk and comfortable to work in garden. I actually did some very productive puttering. I’ve had my years of Bon Appetite magazines in the garage to go through and get my favorite recipes. I know it’s irrational as everything is online, but somehow those actual magazines represent a part of my life. I’m trying to practice letting-go…

Time is a Thief August 23, 2013

Evaporation

Into thin air! Where’s summer?

Time, she is a thief!

Art Prescription:  Anyone else feeling like you blinked your eyes and time has moved on? Perhaps this is one of the healing effects of art. You make a mark, there you have left evidence of your precious life!  Art moves us…

Haiku August 5, 2013 Nature Tactics

Army of songbirds

Descend on intruder hawk

The war of nature.

Art Prescription:  While taking a ride on my bike, I noticed a bunch of racket going on in the woods. I stopped and scanned the trees for the action. Then I saw a rooster-sized hawk being bombarded by many songbirds…cardinals, bluejays, woodpeckers…They were all working as a team to make the intruder flee. Finally after much feather pecking, the hawk took off to nearby pines. The persistent songbirds followed. Amazing!

Haiku August 3, 2013 Vietnamese Lunch

Artful plate arrives

Basil, limes, jalapenos

Vietnamese lunch!

Art Prescription:  We went with good friends today to an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Experiential, really, proving that you don’t have to travel far to find food prepared with deep cultural roots. Each plate they brought to the table was a work of art! Here is my sketch…
