Winter Wind December 10, 2014

I am listening

To the winter wind, trees sway

Year end moves forward.

Art Prescription:  Winter is upon us…into the 20’s tonight. How grateful I am to have a warm house and heat that comes on at a moments touch. Blankets and quilts and fluffy robes…truly the riches of the holidays.

Damn Near Perfect December 4, 2014

Dried hydrangeas

Their season of glory done

Form, “Damn near perfect.”

Art Prescription:  I found out today that one of my favorite patients passed away. I just want to honor him here. He was a delightful person, and every time anyone asked him how he was his response was, “damn near perfect.” I sure hope he has a “damn near perfect” journey to the other side.

Moon Shine December 3, 2014

Under bright moonlight

I take a breath of pure joy

For all that is…life.

Art Prescription:  While a friend came to help me take an objective look at my open studio set-up, she noticed my cut butterflies for Art Prescription Kits. She has a family member who is unwell, and she wants to send a butterfly every few days as a word of encouragement, sign of support. I’m so pleased to provide some pretty butterflies for this act from the heart.

Just Is November 26, 2014

Clean up on aisle one

Tangerines, nuts, memories

Holiday meltdown.

Art Prescription:  So I had a meltdown at the Harris Teeter today…dang Christmas music. I went to shop for my Thanksgiving dressing and all of a sudden, right there in the fresh produce section, big tear streamed down my face. What? Get it together. Went to the bathroom…and then again shopping for rice…and nuts…My sweet husband came to my rescue.

I sure do miss all the people that I miss…and this Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for!!

Bustle November 25, 2014

Hawk 1

Holiday traffic

All the fixings, loaded carts

Plans for gratitude.

Art Prescription:  Wow, holiday hustle and bustle. My hope is that as we all sit down to share Thanksgiving dinner, we will also give thanks for the natural world around us. It’s pretty amazing…

Playing Possum November 21, 2014

Oh so still on trail

A grey ball of fluff, oh dear…

Just playing possum!

Art Prescription:  On our morning hike at Mason Farm we came across a seemingly unfortunate scene. As we got closer Sam said, it’s breathing. We circled around through the woods. As soon as we were on down the path, the possum took off to continue meandering in the woods. Nature! Full of surprise.

Piles of Leaves November 16, 2014

Scratch, scratch, rustle, scratch

A big pile of autumn leaves

Childhood memories.

Art Prescription:  I grew up at 1205 Kingwood Drive. And our yard had big trees and lots of leaves!! I always enjoyed raking. I guess even as a child I liked the meditative aspect of being outdoors and being productive. The fact that I enjoy working at the farm where Finn stays is no surprise…3 x 5 index card illustration.
