Life is a circle
Seasons roll, daffodils bloom
A bit early now!
Art Prescription: Daffodils in January are delightful! Brave blooms…
Stars twinkle clear sky
Lovely ring circles full moon
Light for longest nights!
Art Prescription: Evening walks take on new meanings in winter. Instead of watching the sun set, I get to watch the moon rise. Tonight the moon is full…called by Native Americans the “Full Cold Moon,” or the “Full Long Nights Moon.” This time of year temperatures dive, 20’s expected here in North Carolina. Since it’s hard to capture the beauty of a moon lit sky with a camera (unless you are a pro), I encourage you to sketch and/or paint this magical winter scene!
The Full Cold Moon; or the Full Long Nights Moon – December During this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule. The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun.
A voice sang from woods
Peace on earth, goodwill to man
Many answered call!!
Art Prescription: Beautiful Christmas day here in North Carolina. Spent it with my soul-mate walking in the woods, doing a Christmas day bird count, and a bit of sketching…bliss…shear bliss. I highly recommend it. This new year go out and buy yourself a sketchbook. Simply take notice of your surroundings. Especially when you are too busy…just ten minutes of joy and a change in brain chemistry!
