Okay, so I’m a saver. I save new clothes for something special. I save a favorite lotion, lest I use it and it runs out. I have always tried to save money. I save new pajamas, cards I get in the mail, magazines (I might read them again later), and the big one I save time by multi-tasking (ie. checking email while brushing my teeth).
So with all this in mind it’s not a surprise that I take really good care of my “stuff.” I’ve always had it in the back of my mind this, what ever this is, needs to last a long time. I’m as loyal as they come.
Recently I’ve had some epiphanies about all this saving. The biggest one being that things are lasting, my favorite oriental carpet, pieces of prized art, quilts made by my grandparents, my beloved marriage. And a lot of “stuff” will probably last the rest of my life! Wow…what’s that about?
I think it’s a reminder to live life with abundant joy everyday!
Art Prescription: Surround yourself with things and people that feed your spirit. Look for and acknowledge all the little moments that make you smile. Instead of saving…try spending more time loving, it’s raining somewhere.
