Contemplative walk.
Art Prescription: While Sam got some great photos, I stopped and sketched with pen and ink. Once home I added color with pencils. A lovely hike!

Healthy trees spread roots
Deep into the ground, balance
And grow new spring leaves.
Art Prescription: Happy New Year!
May your 2019 bring new roots, balance, and happiness.
Art journal collage:

Long and winding road
Another trip around sun
Grateful for my life.
Art Prescription: As 2018 winds down, we have time to pause and reflect.
I sat up in the pasture with the horses and the sun warming my back and felt great peace and gratitude.
For me a simple life brings me pleasure.
I hope as you move into the new year you find peace and happiness.
Art Journal:

Winter grey hovers
Sun peeks out here and there, cold
The blue-jays complain.
Art Prescription: So after looking at all the “perfect” family photos on social media, I’m feeling a little depressed. Love my family, but honestly, it was a lot of work for a short mid-day dinner. Not relaxing at all!
I did get the perfect gift today from a dear friend, a mini-hand-made journal.
Here’s my first entry with my chop that says “hope.”

Who, who, who, softly
The Great Horned Owl called in woods
Who is listening?
Art Prescription: long lived day with a feast! And just like that Christmas Day comes to a close.
As I walked I heard the soft coo of a Great Horned Owl. How lovely!
Mixed media art journal collage with poem:
To be nobody but yourself,
in a world which is doing its best,
night and day, to make you everybody else-
means to fight the hardest battle
which any human being can fight,
never stop fighting.

Wash Annie’s China
Smell of cornbread in skillet
Tinsel on the tree.
Art Prescription: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!
As I prepped for our Christmas Dinner, I washed my china which was my grandmother’s, Annie Callis Jones.
My brother and I talked about how both our grandparents grew and canned their own vegetables. Holiday meals were prepared for months in advance. Weeks of gathering and “putting up” the harvest. Weeks of baking from scratch real layered cakes with freshly grated coconut.
We had no idea!!
To go back to just one meal…the ghost of Christmas past.
We will cook with our hearts tomorrow.
I hope you and your family are enjoying this joyful season, and creating memories to last a lifetime!
Cheers,
Bev

Sun chases the frost
Along the edge of the woods
A thin line of white.
Art Prescription: We had a heavy frost last night, and on my way to feed the horses I noticed a distinct line where the morning sun hit the ground.
Here I have negative painted around the blown winter tress I did last week. Guess I’ll need to do another for spring. Just feeling winter!

Missing butterflies
While fields lay silent with pods
Covered with wet rain.
Art Prescription: Hard rain while I groomed Finn. Then a break, so I rode bareback.
Index card with acrylic:

All about comfort
Find a warm spot to curl up
Purrs and rolls over.
Art Prescription: Do you ever watch your cat and wish you could allow yourself to experience such luxury on a daily basis?
Cats know comfort.
This is another Christmas portrait that I think is done. Another look after a good night’s sleep.
