A treat to get quiet, nap
Cat acupuncture!
Art Prescription: I’m not much of a napper, can never fall asleep during the day. I do relish laying down though and resting my body. With three cats, someone is always going to join me. Mocha, my tabby, will make biscuits for 30 minutes straight. Got a session of cat acupuncture and then up I went to the studio to play. 8 1/2 x 11 mixed media
A place for ice-cream
Rolling country where cows graze
Big, tall, grain silos.
Art Prescription: Took my blanket, binoculars, and sketchbook out to the country today. Plopped myself on a hill over-looking a dairy farm. Meanwhile people wandered into the store for fresh and local ice-cream cones.
Through open windows
Comes fall and winds of new path
Trees let go with ease.
Art Prescription: Are you wresting with letting go of something? Nature’s lesson this season is to let go and rest with full courage that new growth is next. Collage, pen and ink, and colored pencil on an envelope. I thought about using pieces of the envelope in a collage, and then I thought why not just do art on the envelope!!

Art Prescription: Sometimes wish life came with directions… most of us are sewing as we go. 8 1/2 x 11 collage, watercolor, pen and ink.
Freshly mowed meadow
Scent of dried grass, blue birds dip
Catch insects mid-flight.
Art Prescription: Sunday hike at Merritt’s Pasture. The field was freshly mowed, except they left islands of milk-weed for the monarch butterflies. Saw cardinals, titmice, chickadees, blue-birds, and a juvenile hawk. Watercolor sketch with pen and ink.
Picking a pumpkin
To adorn our porch for fall

Art Prescription: Well this is just orange-luscious!! A trek out to the country for pumpkin picking.
Geese call out, echoes
Ready to roost music scales

Art Prescription: I love my solitary walks around the ponds in my neighborhood. Stood and watched the geese until they took flight. Watercolor sketch.
Some days a blank page
Stares at me, my muse protests

Art Prescription: While hiking our favorite place, Mason Farm, NC, we ran into another couple about half-way around the loop. They had just seen two bear cubs running off into the forest!! Then on the trail we saw bear scat. Holy nature walk! We only did one loop today. Back at the studio I tapped into nothing particular. Trying to plan holiday workshops…

Art Prescription: I love to paint trees! This one is 7 feet tall and will go to UNC Hospitals for patients and families to add leaves.
