A Day Off September 11, 2014

Blue Skies September

Place where time stands still

Gentle wind rolls across field

Horses graze on grass.

Art Prescription:  Took my sketchbook and big old sun hat out to Blue Skies today. Took a chair and sat in the paddock, being part of the herd. So hot.  They were fine to just let me be there. We know you and you are okay to hang-out with us. They stood lazy, swishing their tails against the flies, sun on their strong backs.

Bus leaves summer, next stop fall

Bags packed with color.

Art Prescription:  Is the bus going to leave without you? Kicking and screaming…summer’s not over!!! I love the change of season. Another miniature piece. Artist trading card size.

Poetics August 9, 2014

To swim, poetic

Pause to take a deep breath, stroke

Rhythm, flow, water.

Art Prescription:  Was thinking today as I was swimming how poetry and swimming are similar. There is a cadence to my stroke, a rhythm as I kick my feet, a pause as I turn my head to breathe. For me this is a moving meditation. Colored pencil and pen and ink 3 x 5 index card.

Orange and Blue August 4, 2014

Opposites attract

Blue and orange, vibration

Up-cycle a bird.

Art Prescription:  True to my own medicine I used art to get through my day. My three kitty-cats went to have dental today. Two of them had extractions….ugh. I worked with paper and did another bird to pass away the time and keep my mind from worrying.

Goodbye July 30, 2014

Parting, sweet sorrow

Goodbye my sweet Lacey horse

Thanks for the good rides.

Art Prescription:  Lacey, the sweet mare I’ve been riding for about 3 months, is returning to her home farm. She is a horse a family grew up with and she is loved. Which made her lovable. I’ve enjoyed my time with her, the rides, the baths, the grooming. I’m grateful she crossed my path.
