Holiday Blues December 29, 2015

Post-holiday blues

The hubbub grows more quiet

Time for reflection.

Art Prescription:  For most people this week after the mad dash of the holiday season is a time of regaining a sense of normal.

Thoreau (who went off alone into the woods by the way) says, “The life in us is like the water in a river. It rises, even floods, but then it recedes until it finds its true level.”

As life falls back into its regular pace we move into a new year of hopes, dreams, and intentions!

  1. Oh how much I love this Beverly! The art is EXTRAordinary! Love the colors and design – it so caught my eye! And your words – so soothing – so true – so inspiring. Thank you!

    • Thank you Jodi. My art group met yesterday and as we talked and shared our holiday stories we worked with smearing paint to create our own collage stash. As I worked mine became this posy. Was good to jump-start my creative engine.

  2. This is gorgeous! I’m still trying to make something beautiful inspired by your blue circles with the flower. I’ve made many attempts lol! Thanks for inspiring us always with your lovely work, Beverly. Holiday blues is right. My daughter went back home after a week here and I’ve been fighting off those blasted blues ever since. I hope you have a terrific 2016!

    • Laura it can be a difficult time. So much build up and over so quickly. This piece was done by smearing paint onto paper and then laying down collage. The little posy just started to appear to me. Let me know how I can help you. Do you have specific questions I can answer? Mixed media is always experimental to me. Happy New Year!
